If I ask (poem)
Let me give you a little intro, this is a poem I wrote for my little brother who was 14 at the time. He sent it to a school competition and ended up in a book for student’s poetry called ‘Talkin’ ‘Bout My Generation’. As you will notice its written from a male’s point of view coz my brother was supposed to be the one who wrote it, and it’s supposed to be a kid who talks, but I find it rather cute and I wanted to share it with all of you, Here it is Enjoy
If I ask
by Deema Osman
When you’re around everything is still
If I ask, will you say ‘I will’?
All the guys say I’ve lost my touch
But you’ve become my sugar rush
Sweet on the outside and all the way through
And when you smile there’s no one like you
You are the queen let me be your king
And maybe our future will hold a shinning ring
You are the most precious diamond on the crown
The heartbeat and breath that never lets me down
We will be best friends and valentine lovers
I’ll feel your room with paper hearts and flowers
I’ll buy you the most delicious chocolate bar
And when we’re eighteen your favorite car
I’ll be your guy and I’ll be your man
To make you happy I’ll do all that I can
My friends can say what they want and what they may
Coz you’re the song that fills my day
So if I ask will you say ‘I will’?
Years from now I’ll be waiting still
