Ke$ha: Flavor of the Week Rolled In Glitter

Ke$ha

Hey guys! Tashia here!

Seraphina asked me to be a guest author here with the Whatever Girls and who am I to resist a chance to be sarcastic and point out the obvious?

Typically, you can all here me be a tiny bit scathing and make an ass out of myself over in my podcast, Delirium, with my friend Jess. BUT, I figured you all needed a taste of lunacy here, too.

Now, you’ve all probably heard of that girl Ke$ha by now, yes? If not, you’re kind of like me when it came to Lady Gaga right around the release of her ‘Just Dance’ single. That is, totally clueless.
Don’t worry, I’m still clueless about this Ke$ha chick.

All I know is, just looking at a picture of her makes me want to grab a wire comb and run it through her hair, give her a good scrubbing in a super hot bath, and send her to the CDC for testing.
Then give myself a less rough version of the treatment…just in case.

Ke$ha (who obviously decided to put that dollar symbol in her name JUST to irritate me. Like she woke up and made it her life’s mission,) seems to rely heavily on what seems to be auto-tune, heavy club beats and her youthful body to garner her audience(which is obviously the 9-17 age group). I honestly believe she wouldn’t have a chance in the industry 10 years ago.

I will admit this girl has some talent, you don’t get to have a #1 record without some sort of catalyst to catch the eye of the masses, but she’s a generic flavor that is going to disappear before that supposed 2012 apocalyptic prophecy comes to pass.

If you like her, eh, good for you. But honestly, she’s nothing special. There have been hundreds of other girls her age who’ve gotten to her level then faded because she was just the flavor of the week.

One thing I applaud this girl for: Making me feel twice my age (I’m still to young to drink, FYI). I mean, she makes me feel like a disapproving mother! Not to mention she makes me reminisce about when music used to be good. Or, at least, when good music used to be popular.

Don’t just take me word for it. If you haven’t already listened to some of her music, do so. But really, its all quite obvious. If you find you like her, good for you. But really.

Anyhow, you want to hear me talk about more pleasing things? Or hear me be a fool? Check out my podcast here!

Until next time!

-Tashia
