This is by far one of my favorite photos that I have ever taken. It was taken of my nephew when he was just a few weeks old. This pic also goes along with last weeks post of angles. Lighting is also a huge part of taking a good pic. You obviously can’t have too much lighting when taking a pic like this. It has to be “just right”.

When you take a pic in color, sometimes, it just doesn’t have the same impact as taking it in black and white. If your camera doesn’t have an option for B/W then you can always upload it to the many editing sites out there and apply the effect. I have recently been able to notice certain scenes and subjects that would lend themselves to black & white. The key is to focus on the contrast and texture of the subject you are photographing.

There are many reasons why black & white pics are my fav, but here are the main ones. When used “properly,” black and white accentuates the depth of the photograph. Black and white heightens emotional content. Black and white photography has a tendency to make photos look more like works of art. Produces a clean, crisp look. Transforms a dingy or overcast look into a striking photo evoking emotion.

I hope I have given you some useful tips, now go out & take some B/W pics of your own, and remember to not second guess yourself when it comes to what you find “pic worthy”.
