Eclipse Book Review

The excitement over the release of New Moon is hardly over and everyone is already psyched about the upcoming release of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on June 30th. But I just finished reading the third book Eclipse for the second time, and it’s still fresh in my mind so I decided to review it with all of you. Hopefully encourage some people who haven’t read the book to do so before watching the movie.

“some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice” the introduction of the book starts with Robert Frost poem Fire and Ice, that contains the line that could sum up the intensity of the whole book.

So, so far Stephanie had introduced us to both the Vampire and Werewolf worlds, established that the only love Bella could ever choose is her vamp Edward Cullen, and took us on an emotional ride of Jake’s undying love for Bella.

In the third installment, Stephanie parallel’s her love story to the amazing classic novel, Wuthering Heights, where the two heroes compare themselves to Heathcliff and Catherine and how big the selfish part of their love could be.

On the other hand Jake is still in the picture wondering in the back of Bella’s head, and he insists that he is the natural course that Bella’s life should have chosen, and Bella is torn apart with self hatred for being the source of both of Edward and Jake’s pain.

“If all else perished, and he remained, I should still continue to be; and if all else remained, and he were annihilated, the universe would turn to a mighty stranger” Bella reads from the her Wuthering Heights book, expressing her feelings is quote but the whole story is about discovering who she would end up reading those words to.

The book is intense in a way that is bound to stir up your emotions, and keep you undecided along with Bella, more than any other of the books does it force you hesitate between the now well known Team Edward and Team Jacob, and feel Bella’s pain.

Another thing that makes this book of the series stand out is the action. More than both first and second book, it is packed with events, revelations and suspense over Seattle’s growing mass murders; it also gives us insights to some of the background of the main characters.

I hate to say even though I am a Huge fan of the movies, you don’t know nothing about the characters until you’ve read the books. The Movies are no more than a small insight at the events of each book, the underlying emotions and motives and stories all lie within Stephanie’s mesmerizing writing, that everyone who is slightly interested in the movies ought to read.

Plus it’s so much more fun creating the world of Eclipse in your head through the book, letting your imagination run free and creatively enjoy the long scenes in your head before watching them on the big screen and compare your directing abilities to David Slade’s.

And hey to those who have read it, it’s worth reading a second time you’ll still enjoy it.
