Amber Is NOT a Crayon: Interview With An Artist

Q Can you please explain to everyone what it is that you paint?

A: I paint canvas paintings – words, names, phrases. I do A LOT of names, college letters, and such. people call it “wall art.”

Q: I’ve seen some of your work, and i think its fantastic. How did you start painting?

A: actually, I just picked it up. I saw something similar to what I do in a store once and I thought “huh, I doodle, I bet I could do that!” so I started trying, and I just perfected it little by little.

Q:Do you have a favorite artist?

A: my friends are my favorite artists. I also have a local Japanese artist here in Huntsville, AL that I absolutely LOVE. His name is Godwin Kim.

Q: What inspires you to continue to paint?

A: my friends and family..and tough times. Painting always gets me through a bad day.

Q: This is a very creative gift idea, how do you specially customize each painting per customer?

A: I only paint per customer order. I don’t have any “pre made” paintings. So, everything I paint is specially customized to each customer. Color, Wording, everything.

Q: What special holiday inspired painting have you created or can you create for people as gifts?

A: I painted one for my grandmother. We call her “Bebob” and it says “Bebob’s Kitchen: Kids Eat Free” because she always feeds all the grandchildren. I thought it was a cute gift. But, I can always help you come up with a cute idea that goes along with the person’s personality.

Q: About how long does it take to make each painting?

A: depends on the size of the painting, but it usually takes anywhere from 3-5 days. I work so I have to work on them at night, and I never rush through them to give them the best quality!

Q: Where can people order your paintings and how can they contact you if interested?

A: right now I’m building my portfolio, so I haven’t created my site. Which also means my paintings are selling for great prices! So, you can contact me directly at amberjusm@yahoo.com . You can see some examples athttp://www.flickr.com/photos/33070150@N04/sets/72157622610655454/. I accept paypal as a form of payment.
