Happy Australia Day!

AustralianFlagAwholelotofwhatever.com would like to wish all you Aussie’s a very happy holiday! Although it is only observed in the mother land, we want to take sometime out to acknowledge this beautiful countries beloved holiday.

For those of you that don’t know, Australia Day is also known as “Anniversary Day” or “Foundation Day” and it is celebrated nationally on January 26th of each year. It celebrates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788, and proclamation of British sovereignty over Australia. It wasn’t known as “Australia Day” until the 1900’s but celebrations date back to the early 1800’s.

I’ve never been to Australia, but it one of the many places I would love to visit. I know a few Australian natives and I have to say, they constantly display undying love and support for their country, and will not hesitate to rip your head off (or deny you a stuffed Koala…you know who you are…) if you mock or trash talk their beloved country. They are a very passionate bunch and have, hands down, the sexiest accents in the world.

Again, Happy Aussie Day!!!

P.S.- If you happen to visit Australia or live in Australia, I would love to be sent back some souvenirs. Something simple of course. A plush Koala, toy Kangaroo, a flag, an Australian…..whatever.

But if your name is Mark and you sent Koalas to a friend of yours’ entire family with the exception of said friend’s niece, I hope you choke on a Kiwi. The fruit, of course….
