Music Review: Placebo-Battle for the Sun

placeboI can’t even begin to poetically weave together words to describe how much I enjoyed this album. I’m actually dumbfounded at my own response to the record. First off, I was never a die hard fan of Placebo. I loved some of their songs, including “Infra-red” and ”Running up that hill” but I never considered myself to be a huge fan. And then I heard “Battle of the Sun” and I can’t get enough. This album is so incredible and addictive, that after the first track “Kitty Litter” I couldn’t stop listening until eventually I had heard the entire album all in one sit down. No breaks. Usually I’ll skip around songs or only listen to about the first minute of each song on the album before going back to listen again but this time I couldn’t. It was too amazing to skip through and I didn’t want to miss a single note. More amazing still was how each song made me fall more in love with the record. After listening to it once through I played the entire record back 4 times consecutively and I’m listening to it again now as I write this. It’s so hard to pick a favorite, but according to itunes my most played are “Kitty Litter” “Ashtray Heart” and the title track “Battle for the Sun.” It is a phenomenal album.

Below is a playlist featuring songs from the album. The only songs missing are “Bright Lights” and “For What It’s Worth.”
